HOW to apply

A SIMPLE APPLICATION PROCESS

01 — Review Your Eligibility

Make sure you meet all eligibility requirements before applying.

02 — Prepare Your Materials

Applicants will need:

  • Resume

    • A current resume highlighting academic, professional, volunteer, community, and/or extracurricular experience.

  • Written Responses (in one PDF and in separate paragraphs, please answer all the following prompts)

    • Describe your connection to the Black community and how that identity has shaped your journey toward a career in law.

    • Why did you choose paralegal studies, and what area of law are you most passionate about pursuing?

    • What barriers have you observed or experienced that Black individuals face within the justice system, and how has this influenced your career goals?

    • Where do you see yourself professionally within three to five years, and how do you hope to serve or represent the Black community in that role?

    • Describe how you have contributed to the Black community, whether through mentorship, advocacy, church, youth work, cultural organizations, or other community involvement.

    • How do you plan to use your legal training to address gaps or inequities that affect Black communities specifically?

    • Briefly describe your current financial circumstances and how this scholarship would support your ability to complete your studies.

    • In 500 words or less, describe a moment when your Black identity intersected with your pursuit of education or your interest in the legal system. What did that experience teach you?

  • Supporting Materials

    • Current transcript or other proof of enrollment

    • One letter of reference from someone familiar with your character or community involvement.

03 — Submit Your Application

Complete the application and submit all required materials before the application deadline.

04 — Application Review

Applications will be evaluated based on the scholarship's selection criteria.

05 — Recipient Selection

The successful recipient(s) will be contacted following the completion of the selection process.
