About the program
The Sudine Riley Scholarship Program
The Sudine Riley Scholarship Program was established to support Black students pursuing education and professional opportunities in the legal field.
The annual scholarship is designed to recognize students who demonstrate strong academic performance, thoughtful legal reasoning, sound judgment, professionalism, engagement, responsiveness to feedback, and meaningful growth.
While academic achievement is an important consideration, the program recognizes that potential extends beyond grades. The scholarship seeks to support students who demonstrate the ability to thoughtfully apply legal principles and approach complex issues with discernment.
ANNUAL AWARD
The scholarship will be offered annually, subject to continued funding and program alignment.
The Scholarship
Up to $3,000 annually
The Sudine Riley Scholarship Program anticipates providing up to $3,000 in annual scholarship funding.
$2,000
Primary Scholarship Award
One applicant may receive the primary scholarship based on demonstrated merit and alignment with the program's values.
$1,000
Secondary Award
A second award may be provided to another highly qualified applicant who demonstrates strong merit.
If only one candidate meets the scholarship's standards, the available funding may instead be awarded to a single recipient.
